Notes: Gül Baba's Tomb is an octagonal, 16-century Turkish grave and chapel on Buda's Rózsadomb (Rose Hill) near Margaret Bridge. Gül Baba was a famous dervish poet who arrived in Buda with the occupying Turkish troops in 1541. According to legend, he died on the day the occupancy of the town was celebrated, September 2, 1541. He was buried in great honor, and the ceremony was attended by Suleiman the Magnificent himself. The chapel (türbe) above his grave was built by the Pasha of Buda between 1543 and 1548. The tomb is the northernmost site of Islamic pilgrimage.
