Notes: The House of Terror is a unique and somber museum located in the former headquarters of the Hungarian Nazi party, the Arrow Crossist Party, and later, the Communist secret police (ÁVO/ÁVH). The building has a sordid history, and notorious crimes were committed here during communism when dissidents were imprisoned in the building, tortured and often killed, especially after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. The permanent exhibition - which occupies all three floors of the building, including the infamous cellars, the staircases and the inner yard - exposes the atrocities committed by Hungary's Fascist and Stalinist regimes.
