Notes: Gellért Hill is a 139-meter tall dolomite rock that lies in Budapest's Districts XI and I on the bank of the Danube River. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. It was named after a martyr bishop, St. Gellért (980-1046), killed by pagans who pushed him into the river from the hill. His seven-meter-tall bronze statue is standing on the slope of the hill facing Elisabeth Bridge (Erzsébet híd). Other attractions on the hill include the Citadel, the Liberation Monument and the Chapel in the Rock. The hill also offers beautiful views of Pest.
